Tyres fed into the shredder will be reduced to a maximum particle size of 150mm. At which size the material is conveyed to a secondary shredder where it is reduced to a chip size of approximately 50mm. At this stage all material is conveyed to a rotating screen which sorts it into 4 sizes.

1. 0 to 15mm.
2. 20 to 35mm.
3. 40 to 85mm.
4. Above 85mm and returned for secondary re-shredding.

Material passed through screens 1 and 2 are conveyed past magnetic separators where steel is removed and the rubber product fed into holding bins.

Material through screen 3 is conveyed to granulator and reduced to 0 to 8mm. rubber and steel, conveyed to metal separation and to holding bins.

This example considers material to be reduced to 3 rubber granule sizes and steel: Three shredders are required in series with conveyors transferring material. Shredder 1. Primary, 4 motors, 75mm cutters. Shredder 2. Secondary, 4 motors, 50 mm cutters. Shredder 3. Tail, 4 motors 25mm cutters. Material from shredder 3 is conveyed to a granulator where it is reduced to 0 to 8mm rubber and steel, conveyed to metal separation and to holding bins.
