Advanced Recycling Solutions is the business brand of the recycling equipment arm of the small but quickly growing CHS Engineering Group, whose history can be traced back to 1976 when Brian Hattam, Managing Director of the group, first designed and built shredders for turning newspaper into animal bedding, equipment which was sold not only in the UK but also exported to the US and other countries.

At this time of course there was no standard equipment like this on the market, so product was designed from scratch, and in 1986 the CHS group was established to handle the different facets of work required - mechanical, electrical and hydraulic design, and manufacture.

From these early days the business has continued to innovate, and has developed an excellent reputation through the practical experience of customers. Almost one hundred machines have been sold to date, culminating in the recent £180,000 contract for a major sorting and processing plant recently installed at Chelmsford Borough Council, and the recent commissioning of a particularly innovative tyre shredding plant.

Individual pieces of equipment make use of common modules wherever possible - to keep costs down and service requirements simple - and each also makes use of a best of breed approach of the engineering principles that have developed the equipment's competitive advantages:
